Message No offense to Nismo_Gizmo, but I'm just trying to help you say that the older bikes, even though they have bigger engines, are not necessarily faster than some of the new 600RR's/636/R6/GSXR6. So if you got a great price, more power to you. But do like you have been and don't try and keep up with your more experienced friends. When I first started riding that was my downfall and subsequently gave me lots of scares. Just ride at your own pace until you're very comfortable with the bike. You should have seen how slow I was at my first track day.... ha.
